Election-industrial complex

In his farewell address to the nation, President Dwight Eisenhower issued a warning: “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”

Unfortunately, that potential has become fact. And it threatens to make that power permament by extension of power into the mechanics of democracy itself. To ensure power from every possible pass, the military brought a completely unnecessary mechanization -- a completely controllable one -- to intervene in the process of voting.
